This week, Burke River Trail kiosks and entrance signs were installed in four Trail Towns (one to go). Seeing them in place is exciting—not because they are signs, but because of what they represent.

They represent momentum.
They represent towns coming together around a shared vision.
They represent places that are ready.
When you see a Burke River Trail sign, you’ll know what to expect: a welcoming space, a place to explore, and a connection to something larger than any one town.
The following trailhead parks are part of this initial sign rollout:
- Glen Alpine Downtown Park — Western Terminus of Burke River Trail; parking, restrooms, picnic shelter, loop track
- Drexel Downtown Park — street parking, picnic tables, amphitheater seating
- McGalliard Falls Park — parking, restrooms, volleyball, waterfall, picnic shelter, grill
- Rutherford College Greenway — parking, restrooms, picnic shelter, loop trail, playground
- Hildebran Royal Park — Eastern Terminus of Burke River Trail; parking, restrooms, splash pad, musical play features, stage
Each kiosk includes a downtown map and a QR code that links to a BRTA-maintained webpage for that town—highlighting places to eat, shop, and explore, along with current events and updates. Together, these elements create a consistent and welcoming visitor experience across all Trail Towns. (Past Story on Signs)
The trail is coming—and our communities are getting ready.
