- Sun, Sep 13th @ 3:00 PM Story Time & Hike - Valdese🌿 Scavenger Hunt Hike & Story Time 🌿 Hosted by Burke River Trail Association and Friends of the Valdese Rec Bring the kids for a fun afternoon of stories, nature, and outdoor adventure! 📅 Sunday, September 13 🕜 Story Time begins at 3:00 PM 📍 Valdese Lakeside Park - 1149 Lake Rhodhiss Dr This FREE family event includes: 📖 A reading of Let's Take a Hike 🔎 A guided nature scavenger hunt on the trail and in the park 🐦 Make a pinecone birdfeeder for local wildlife 🔍 Nature exploration tools for every child (while supplies last), including binoculars with a compass, a magnifying glass, and an activity booklet to continue the adventure at home! This program is designed to help children discover that nature is all around them—and that exploring the outdoors can be fun, healthy, and close to home. 💚 Free to attend. No registration required. Stick around after for free concert 4-6 pm with Aces and Eights Food truck to be announced This program is made possible by a Thrivent Action Team Grant secured by BRTA Board Member Melinda Wallrichs.

There will also be shoreline cleanup in the area - if you do not have a boat. Meet at Valdese Lakeside Park kayak launch. We are an official site for the Catawba Riverkeeper Riversweep
