Glen Alpine Outdoor Collaborative: Connecting People Who Love the Outdoors
Join us Monday, December 7, at 5:30 PM for our first gathering! At the Alpine Village in Glen Alpine.
Glen Alpine is surrounded by incredible outdoor recreation opportunities — from Lake James and the Catawba River to Linville Gorge and the many trails, waterways, and natural areas throughout our region.
Now we’re bringing together the people who enjoy these places, the organizations working to improve them, and the businesses that help people experience them.
Introducing the Glen Alpine Outdoor Collaborative!
Led by Burke River Trail Association with the involvement of Glen Alpine Alderman Chad Wykle, this new community initiative will connect outdoor enthusiasts, organizations, clubs, businesses, and residents who share an interest in outdoor recreation.
What’s the idea?
It’s simple: Get people together, share what’s happening, and make connections.
Every other month, the Glen Alpine Outdoor Collaborative will provide an opportunity to:
- Hear what’s happening. Get updates about trails, parks, climbing, fishing, paddling, cycling, outdoor events, and other recreation opportunities from people directly involved.
- Spread the word. Leave with information you can share with friends, neighbors, club members, customers, and others.
- Meet people. Connect with outdoor enthusiasts, businesses, organizations, and community leaders who share your interests.
- Discover opportunities. Learn about upcoming activities, volunteer opportunities, projects, and ways to get involved.
- Explore new ideas. Build partnerships that help outdoor recreation grow and benefit our communities.
We aren’t creating another formal committee. We’re creating a place where people can connect, share information, and see what grows from those relationships.
Who should attend?
Everyone with an interest in the outdoors is welcome!
Hikers, bikers, climbers, anglers, paddlers, runners, outdoor clubs, trail organizations, conservation groups, outfitters, business owners, families, and anyone who enjoys spending time outside.
You don’t need to belong to an organization or have special expertise. Whether you’re deeply involved in outdoor recreation or simply interested in learning more, we’d love to have you participate.
And you don’t have to live in Glen Alpine. Outdoor recreation connects communities throughout our region.
Why Glen Alpine?
Glen Alpine is developing a community economic development plan through a partnership with the North Carolina Department of Commerce.
The community’s emerging vision recognizes Glen Alpine as Burke County’s gateway to Lake James, the Catawba River, and Linville Gorge, with outdoor recreation playing an important role in the Town’s future.
Among the priorities identified are connecting Glen Alpine to surrounding trails and outdoor destinations, expanding recreation opportunities for children and families, and developing outdoor events and experiences that benefit residents, visitors, and local businesses.
The Glen Alpine Outdoor Collaborative is one way to help move that vision forward — by bringing together people who can share information, build relationships, and create opportunities.
