Bringing the Public

BRTA Bringing the Public for Public Input

As a member of the Steering Committee for the Western Piedmont Bicycle & Pedestrian Plan, BRTA was proud to play a key role in shaping the regional vision — and in getting the public to the table.

When the Burke County public input session rolled around, BRTA stepped up once again — promoting the event widely, reaching out to members, and encouraging our trail town partners to attend. Thanks to those efforts, more BRTA members showed up than any other group, bringing valuable local insight, lived experience, and community priorities into the conversation.

This plan — led by the Western Piedmont Council of Governments — aims to improve sidewalks, trails, and bike routes across Alexander, Burke, Caldwell, and Catawba counties. BRTA’s strong turnout helped ensure that Burke County’s rural voices, trail-connected towns, and everyday walkers and riders were heard loud and clear.
