Glen Alpine

Upcoming Events

  • May 16, Glen Alpine in the Street event at Glen Alpine Downtown Park (details to come)

Glen Alpine blends rich history with small-town charm at the western terminus of the Burke River Trail. Once a bustling railroad stop and home to the famed Glen Alpine Springs Hotel — at one time, the largest wooden structure in North Carolina — the town has long welcomed travelers to Burke County. Today, Glen Alpine is a primarily residential community with strong hometown values, where downtown traditions like the Fourth of July Main Street Parade and Fall Festival bring neighbors and visitors together. With quick access to the Catawba River, nearby Lake James State Park, and the natural beauty of the Blue Ridge foothills, Glen Alpine offers a relaxed pace of life paired with some of the region’s best outdoor recreation.
